Canto

Self-hosting

Running the Canto stack yourself.

Canto is early access, and the hosted API isn't public yet -- but the control plane it's built on is a real, self-contained stack: controld, the leader-elected control plane that owns desktop lifecycle, host registry, and placement, and hostd, the per-host agent it drives. Both live in this monorepo (canto/controld, canto/hostd) with their own local-dev setup instructions. If you want to run the stack yourself rather than wait for hosted access, start with canto/controld/README.md's "Local dev" section for the Postgres + config-file walkthrough, and treat it as the source of truth over anything summarized here -- these docs describe the hosted API's contract, not a self-hosting guide.
